New thoughts about game
More thoughts are coming about the game. The characters may dodge paint splatters that speed up as you advance. We need a sound for that too. The questions should reflect real world scenerios. Hopefully I can get the slides done quickly, then go back and experiment more with the Flash tools and maybe create more sophisticated imagery. I really want to see that in the final game. Off to Cleveland tomorrow to visit my Aunt...going to the art museum!!!

The drive home
The end of day 3 of my training meant a 2-hour drive home. This leaves plenty of time to think about the workshop and what needs to happen next. The ideas are still popping. First, the game. Maybe instead of hidden tiles, there should be splats that have to be dodged. Also, not only should this be eventually shared with my students but I could also use this as a workshop session at the fall WVAEA conference. Art teachers should be "schooled" about art property rights. Our school is also applying for the Innovation Zone grant. This new class may be used as a component of the "school within school" concept that the grant committee is working on. I was also thinking about the senior project for our 12th graders. In describing this to our English chair, we both realized that this has senior project written all over it. The impact of this is limitless.

Day 2 and I'm still standing
Yes, Day 2 was intense but my new partner in crime Dave is going to be great to work with.....I am getting to know the newbies. This is such a great group of teachers to be around---they are inspiring me. Thank you Valerie (the intern) for your patience. Dave and I have started planning out our game on paper (yea, drawing is not dead). We used a flip cam (our first experience) and uploaded a presentation. There are so many great aspects to this curriculum, i.e. learning newtechnology skills, teaming, and my favorite CREATIVITY! And lots and lots and lots of problem solving.

Day 1 in Globaloria
It's 6:30 a.m. Saturday and I've have finished my first day of training with Globaloria. It's going to be a new challenge for me but what to do for a game? I know what I want to create a game about but feel the topic is to broad and think I should go to my subject area as my source of inspiration....It would just make my life easier. So change of topic. I want to do a game on originality in art.....teaching students about original sources for their work. So many students and yes, I dare say it, professional artists are not using original sources for their work and are "under the gun" for using copyrighted imagery. So the light bulb is on and now I need to go find some good sources for that....and thank you Globaloria staff for all your help. You've made a newbie feel welcome. Oh, and I went to see "Dream Girls" last night.....GO SEE THIS production by the Charleston Light Opera Guild. Charleston's got talent!
